SMHF Awarded Frankenthaler Climate Initiative Grant

July 30, 2024

We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected as a 2024 Frankenthaler Climate Initiative awardee!

Established by the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation, in collaboration with RMI, the leading global expert in clean energy, and Environment & Culture Partners, a nonprofit driving the U.S. cultural sector’s climate action efforts, the Frankenthaler Climate Initiative is the first grantmaking program of its kind that catalyzes climate action at visual arts organizations.

This generous Catalyst grant will support our project “Bi-facial Solar Panel Installation for the Steven Myron Holl Foundation Archive: A Demonstration Site for Ecological Architecture and Clean Energy for the Arts in the Hudson Valley,” contributing to the installation of new high-tech solar panels on the roof of our Architectural Archive and Research Library building gallery extension to generate clean energy, and move closer towards a net-zero energy goal at our facility in the rural woodlands of Rhinebeck, NY.

Thanks so much to the Helen Frankenthaler Foundation’s Frankenthaler Climate Initiative for the deeply impactful support! We are honored to be selected for this prestigious grant among many other incredible arts organizations across the country.
